Change That Sticks

Successful change is not measured by whether a new process, system or structure has been introduced. It is measured by whether the new way of working becomes part of everyday behaviour.

Change That Sticks

ABOUT THE MODULE

Successful change is not measured by whether a new process, system or structure has been introduced. It is measured by whether the new way of working becomes part of everyday behaviour.

Organisations often invest heavily in launching change but underestimate what is required to sustain it. This module explores the human, behavioural and organisational factors that determine whether change is adopted, reinforced and sustained.

It moves from implementing change to making change stick.

WHAT WE EXPLORE

  • Why organisational change succeeds or fails
  • The human side of change
  • Readiness, resistance and adoption
  • Communicating the purpose and value of change
  • Stakeholder alignment and engagement
  • Leadership behaviour during change
  • Changing habits, behaviours and ways of working
  • Reinforcement and accountability
  • Building capability for the new way of working
  • Measuring adoption and progress
  • Identifying change fatigue
  • Sustaining momentum after implementation
  • Creating a culture of continuous adaptation

THE EXPERIENCE

Participants explore change case studies, organisational scenarios, stakeholder-mapping exercises, resistance situations and change-readiness reflections.

They examine why people may understand a change intellectually but still fail to adopt it behaviourally.

The experience asks:

“What will make this change part of the way we work — rather than just another initiative?”

OUTCOMES

Participants will:

  • Understand the factors that influence successful change adoption
  • Recognise different forms of resistance
  • Build stronger change-readiness strategies
  • Communicate change with greater clarity and purpose
  • Engage stakeholders more effectively
  • Identify behavioural barriers to adoption
  • Build reinforcement mechanisms that sustain change
  • Recognise and address change fatigue
  • Measure whether change is actually being adopted
  • Create conditions for sustainable organisational change

THE SHIFT

From: Launching change
To: Embedding change

From: Communication
To: Adoption

From: Compliance
To: Commitment

From: Change as an initiative
To: Change as a way of working

From: Short-term implementation
To: Sustainable transformation

REFLECTION

What change have we successfully implemented — but failed to truly embed?

What would need to change in our behaviours, systems or leadership for the change to become sustainable?

Service FAQ

Questions about this service.

These answers help organisations quickly understand the scope, timing, and best fit for this service line.

Introducing a new system, process or structure does not necessarily mean people have adopted it. Change becomes successful when the new way of working becomes part of everyday behaviour.rn
Resistance can provide valuable information about readiness, concerns, communication gaps, capability or the practical realities of the change. Understanding it can help leaders respond more effectively rather than simply trying to overcome it.rn
Leaders need to create clarity around the purpose and value of the change, engage stakeholders, address behavioural barriers, build capability and reinforce the new behaviours over time.rn
Organisations need to recognise the human impact of repeated change, understand competing initiatives and create realistic reinforcement and support mechanisms. Sustaining momentum requires more than repeatedly announcing new initiatives.rn
Implementation is only the beginning. Organisations need to look at adoption, behavioural change, reinforcement and whether the new way of working is actually being sustained.rn
The shift is from launching change to embedding change; from communication to adoption; from compliance to commitment; and from change as an initiative to change as a way of working.rn
