Emotional Intelligence

Leadership is not only about what we know or what we do. It is also about how we manage ourselves and how we respond to others.

Emotional Intelligence

ABOUT THE MODULE

Leadership is not only about what we know or what we do. It is also about how we manage ourselves and how we respond to others.

Emotional Intelligence enables leaders to recognise and understand their emotions, regulate their responses, empathise with others and build meaningful relationships. This module explores how emotional awareness and emotional regulation influence judgement, communication, relationships and leadership effectiveness.

It moves participants from simply experiencing emotions to understanding and consciously managing them.

WHAT WE EXPLORE

  • Understanding Emotional Intelligence and its relevance to leadership
  • Recognising and naming our emotions
  • The connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviour
  • Emotional triggers and habitual responses
  • Self-regulation and managing reactions under pressure
  • Developing empathy and understanding different perspectives
  • Reading emotional cues in others
  • Managing difficult emotions and challenging interactions
  • Emotional boundaries and healthy responses
  • Building trust through emotional awareness
  • Using emotions as information rather than allowing them to control our behaviour

THE EXPERIENCE

Participants explore their own emotional patterns through self-reflection, real-life situations, guided exercises, stories, conversations and experiential activities.

They examine moments when emotions influence their decisions, communication and relationships, and learn to pause between trigger and response.

REFLECTION

What happens to my leadership when I am emotionally triggered?

When emotions rise, do I allow them to choose my response — or do I choose my response consciously?
